DEAD AMONG THE LIVINGChapter 1-07THE TRIO

On the industrial world of Bondo III, the world has fallen into mysterious world-wide apocalypse. Nearly eighty percent of the population have turned into blood thirty barbarians, and even the many Jedi Knights and Clone Troopers could not handle the Screecher’s.

Guarded by a Republic Command Center, Bondo was one of the most well protected Republic planetary systems in the galaxy with dozens of Jedi Knights, and thousands of Clones.

The planet was also home to a Jedi Initiate Training Center, where a dozen Initiates went through training and many simulations.

Even though it lay in ruins, the “J.I.T.C” could still serve as a safe haven for small groups. With thick walls, many hiding places, strategic layouts and weapons throughout.

On the roof tops of the training center, a lone Mirilian survivor stealthily moves towards a gap in the roof…

…Positioning herself within the gap, and dropped towards the ground…

…Landing painfully on the floor, but survivable to the fall was.

Moving from one room to the next, one hallway after the other, the survivor slowly made her way towards the unknown.

Entering the main entrance, the Mirilian sighed over the damage caused by the chaos, many people, including the young initiates of this Jedi Training Center were not left alive. This only kept the question that tormented her in the Mirilian’s mind: What had caused this sick apocalyptic event?

The burnt carpet cracked and crumbled under her feat, the smell of ash and blood filled the air, giving her an emotional amount of nausea.

“Hey!” cried out a boy in the traditional robes of a Jedi,

Startled by the outcry, the Mirilian faced the sound, preparing to pull her sniper rifle from her back,

“Are you one of them?” asked the curios and anxious Initiate,

“No matter the current state of the being,” Droid Unite WAK-47, or other wise known as “Wak” exclaimed, “Her hands must be up, or she will force me to pull the trigger!”

“Ok, ok, ok!” the survivor replied calmly, “Don’t get your gears in a twist!”

“I’m healthy, I’m a survivor. My name is Navaga, you can call me Nava. I came here for my own safety, I mean no harm.”

“How do we know the Screechers can talk now, master?” Wak asked, sitting down with his guns still targeting,

“I could ask the same question, Wak. Show me that you aren’t a Screecher, stranger.” the boy ordered

“First of all,” Nava replied, “I wouldn’t be holding this rifle would I if I were a Screecher, second of all…I’m a vegetarian.”

“I believe she may have a believable accuse for life, master.” Wak the Initiate, the boy nodded, “Yes, I believe so as well…”

“…But I have yet another question…before I say you can put your arms down,”

“Thank you, child.” Nava replied, and the boy began to ask when Wak interrupted,

“I do not think that it is wise, master. She may want to turn on us.”

“I have no intention to turn on you, especially when you are but a laborer droid, and a child. I would be worse that the Screechers to do something as meaningless as that!” Nava barked back,

“That is good to hear, Nava,” the boy replied,

“My name is Rek Den-Gol, I’m a Youngling from the Jedi Order.”

“Yes, that’s lovely,” Nava replied irritably, “Now what was your question?”

“Oh, yeah! Do you have a space ship? I must return to the Jedi Temple to tell the Council of what has happened!”

“Sorry, kid. I’m looking for the same thing. All the space ships are all totaled or gone. The hundreds of thousands of selfish first-class citizens took advantage of everything, we’ll be lucky to find a speeder here on Bondo III.”

“That is where you are wrong, Nava,” Rek implied, “The Republic Command Center has an under-ground hangar bay, I’m sure there be a few left.”

“Are you serious?!” the woman gasped with joy, an emotion she hadn’t since before these dark times, before the Screechers. “Do you know how to get there?”

“No, I don’t know,” Rek replied, “But Wak knows, he even knows how to fly, demonstrating so when he was in the Void with a team of Astromech droids, everyone in the Republic knows the story!”

“He can be like…our guide, yeah a guide and when we see the ships, we can fly out of here, and go to Corascaunt.”

“It’s a good plan, but can you catch up, little kid?” Nava asked,

“Common, I’m nine years old, and a Jedi! I can catch up.” Rek assured.

“So how are we on supplies?”

“Do you mean food for the organic beings?” Wak asked,

“If so, all the food is gone, I…along with several other Initiates before they died ate it all.” Rek sadly replied.

Sighing with frustration, Nava knew she had to find food before they even started on their journey for the Republic Command Center, “Alright, we’ll need to find food before we start.”

“I think I know where we can get some more energy.” Wak added, “It’s over at the Rodian Embassy facility complex, they have lots of things.”

“That’s great!” Rek exclaimed, “We can go there, surely they have food there, this means we have to hurry, too!”

“Fine, we’ll try that place, and if it doesn’t work, I know where a few grocery stores are in this big city…”

“…From there, we can move out to the Command Center, and then we’ll go to Corascaunt.” Nava promised,

“Once we get there, and you go, I’m leaving immediately.” Nava assured.

“But…why?” Rek asked,

“I can’t tell you, child, stop asking me.” Nava replied sternly, “Now, we can’t waste any time at all…”

“…We’re moving out now!”
