DEAD AMONG THE LIVINGChapter 1-11CONCEALED BETRAYAL

It’s been months since the rise of the dead, and right about now the Tan-Du clan have become low on ammunition and energy. Although sleep deprived and starving, Spar Tan-Du, Commander and H1-C3 press on to find more ammunition using Hanily Eman as their guide.

In their journey, they were lucky to run into only a couple of Screechers, both of which bared the uniforms of mercenaries.

“We got Nikto mercs’ incoming!” Commando Deeno growled, raising his weapon,

“I got these two,”

Shots were fired, and the two screechers were scorched and wriggling on the ground before their bodies completely shut down and died.

“So,” Spar began, “how doth thee knoweth the location of these weapons?”

“My father was a merc,” Hanily replied, “I was…involved in some of the weapons shipments, this was one of the outposts.”

Entering the outpost, the small room was filled with weapons of all kinds. The clan had hit the jackpot!

“For once I’m actually glad you were a criminal!” Deeno chuckled,

“I may have been criminal…and a good one,” Hanily started as she picked out the weapons of her choice, and stuffed her pockets with ammo,

“But is wasn’t something I’m proud of. My father forced me into his crimes, hoping that he would live to see the safe side of the bars…only problem was he was forced to see me on the other side.”

“Well, if my pops was doing that,” Deeno declared as he lifted a DC-15 from the ground, and checking for any broken parts within the rifle, “I would have blown a hole through his head.”

“Aye,” Spar agreed, “Justice is better served when murderous and thieving tyrants receive death as well. Now we must hurry and findeth shelter, this small shack will not do justice.”

Leaving the shack to find shelter, Spar and his clan are set with the ammunition and weapons to survive for at least a few more weeks.

Then the memory of Order 66 filled his mind with worry and conflict. Deeno wanted to tell his General of the plot. Deeno had defied the Order from the Chancellor of the Republic, so General Spar was safe from Commander Deeno, but would he be safe from Spar’s wrath? Surely he would, after all, killing living people will not save Bondo III, so it would be safe to speak of the Contingency Order to Spar.

“Spar, stop,” Deeno began, “I need to speak to you about something very important…and you’re not gonna like it.”

“Alright, Commander,” Spar replied, preparing himself for whatever was going to leave the clone’s lips, “go on.”

“Back at the C.I.S H.Q we advanced upon, I received a command from the Chancellor of the Republic…”

“…It was an order that was one of many Contingency Orders that we clones are programmed to exact when we receive them without question.”

“I know of these, speak on.” Spar replied coolly,

“Then I assume you would be familiar with the Contingency Order number 66?”

“I…yes, I doth know of this order, you…I…” Spar stammered, his confusion rising in his chest, the confusion lead to denial, “No, you cannot be serious!”

“I’m afraid so sir, but I refused to act out! I rebelled against the command!” Deeno finished, but Spar was fueled with uncontrollable rage,

“You betrayed me, you betrayed our Republic! How could you?!” yelled the Jedi Knight as he rammed him against a wall. He could not here his brother-in-arm’s begs for mercy,

“Please, Spar! I refused to obey! The Republic is my ally!” Deeno began to see his life flashing before his eyes, just as Spar’s eyes began to flicker fiery orange and yellow,

“Who else hath received the order? WHO?!”

“Spar, the order went to every Republic outpost and commanders all across the galaxy!” Deeno replied, his life as he knew it was begining to come to an end,

“You speaketh to me that I am the only remaining Jedi in the galaxy, because of your betrayal?!” Spar growled with growing wrath,

With a swift motion of his light saber, he removed the helmet from clone, and the commander’s face began to bleed,

“Please, Spar! Listen to me, have mercy, we’re brothers, I didn’t betray you, and I won’t ever!”

“Your brothers betrayed mine own, and now I am alone. I should hath known, you are the child of a murderer, and because of you and your father’s treachery…justice would serveth best…”

“…through death!”

With a swing of his weapon, the life of the commander tumbled away into the Force just as the head of the clone tumbled into the dirt beside the Nikto bodies.

Walking away from the scene, the three remaining members were silent throughout the day…

…And Spar’s anger silent as well, churning within his body was a fire rising and growing hotter and hotter.

There is no emotion, there is peace.
