DEAD AMONG THE LIVINGChapter 1-12BOUNTY HUNTER

It has been weeks of turmoil on Bondo III. After an unknown crisis, the planet fell under the bloody claws of the dead. They swarm like ants, and crash upon the living like an ocean against a pebble.

But in fewer cases, the pebble refuses to fall under the weight of the pressing ocean.

“Quick,” Tay Conlow warned, “we only have a few moments to find shelter before the others track us down.”

“Wait, father,” Eidam, who had in her mother’s honer had changed her name to Nagol paused and pointed to one of her kills with the barrel of her hand blaster,

“This Screecher…it bares the same robes of a Jedi!”

“I don’t believe my eyes! Even the Republic’s strongest generals fall. It makes me wonder how we are still living.”

Just then, a Kuati pilot appeared from the entrance of an old bank. The eyeS were glowing bright white with hunger…

But it didn’t stand a chance against Nagol who blew a hole through its chest.

“The Force may be with us for now, but not for long. We need to find shelter before more Screechers come.” Tay stated,

“I know father,” Nagol replied calmly, “perhaps the roof of this building will safeguard us for a couple days.”

“Perhaps,” said Tay thinking for a few minutes, connecting all the angles, devising escape routes, and plan “Bs” in case things didn’t work out, “I have a grappling hook in my back-pack, we can climb up onto the roof. Taking the stares is too risky.”

Climbing up the wall, they notice all the ledges and grips that could be easily used to climb up the building, perhaps easy enough for a Screecher to climb. They took a mental note that staying here for long wasn’t a good idea. Screechers could find their location, and turn a meal into them instantly.

Reaching the top, Nagol noticed a black bag and a gray brief case which sat on the roof waiting for them,

“Father, there’s supplies up here! We’ve struck ourselves lucky again!”

“The Force works in mysterious ways: it will help spoiled daughters and gambling fathers, but rids the noble and loyal Jedi Knight.” Tay pondered,

“Spoiled?!” Nagol repeated in louder tone,

“Alright put your guns down!” another voice roared out of nowhere.

“A survivor!” Nagol gasped, “We are not alone father…but how did you appear out of nothing? We didn’t see you anywhere on this roof, stranger.”

“It’s called: Force-Stealth, something you wouldn’t know. You weren’t a former Jedi. Now put your guns down before I blast them off your grubby paws! Don’t you dare think I won’t do it…”

“…Aurra Sing shows no mercy!”

“Please…Aurra, we mean no living being any harm. After all, killing the living won’t defeat the dead.” Tay opposed,

“Said the Jedi fellow who thought he could help the galaxy by trying to take in a wanted killer in the middle of a zombie apocalypse,” Aurra shot back angrily, “I felt his blue-skinned presents leave just a few seconds ago, killed by one of you I suppose.”

“But by the looks of it,” she continued, “you two are rich folk, and not the ones that fought for wealth like me. So I don’t think you can pull off any threat…”

“Then again, two Screechers don’t seem like a threat…until they bring their friends.”

“We are not Screechers, and we do not oppose any threat against you. We are just trying to find shelter for a few hours before we can move on.”

“You guys stupid or something?!” Aurra growled, “You two won’t last long by yourselves, perhaps we can consider establishing an alliance…unless you guys find traveling alone surrounded by the dead to be a bit more…comforting.”

“An alliance would be helpful to our survival, and perhaps maybe yours as well! But pointing guns at each other isn’t how alliances are settled, if you didn’t know.”

“So you feel fine insulting a wanted criminal guilty of murder, homicidal actions, terrorism, and thieving all across the galaxy?” Aurra smiled darkly,

“I like that. You may actually have a chance of survival. Papa smurf over here on the other hand…”

“Excuse me!” Nagol angrily shot, her grip on her blaster tightened until her knuckles were as white as the crystal granite of which the buildings on Bondo III were made of,

“Just saying. Hate to break it to you. You guys hungry? I got some bread and water, and a few drops of blue-milk in my supply sack.”

“Father, I don’t trust this woman. First of all, she’s a criminal, second of all, she’s a Force using maniac who just told you to your face that your going to die!” Nagol stated nervously,

“I know, but the more people, the bigger chance of our survival. She has supplies, adding to ours, plus ammunition she most likely carries, including ours. We have a big chance of living Nava…Nagol and we can’t let it go. This is our only chance. We will suffice.”

“You sure you’re not hungry?”

“I’m fine. I lost my appetite a little while ago.” Nagol replied irritably,

“Suit yourself. More for me…”

“Then again, I lost my appetite as well. Star spit! Everyone who survived probably lost their appetite!”

On the far side of the rooftop, Tay noticed the remaining debris of fried battle droids scrambled on the ground.

“Excuse me, but I couldn’t help but notice the battle droids you destroyed there.”

“Oh yeah, those things. Apparently all the other battle droids across the galaxy had been deactivated.” Aurra informed,

“Wait, how do you know this?” Nagol asked curiously,

“See that brief case? It holds a reactivation key that’ll bring communications back online. I was hired to bring communications back online so that Bondo III can perhaps live again.”

“Only trouble is, the facility I need to get to was destroyed…by droids. I know this because of the mission runs recorded within the brain chips in those battle droids, which somehow managed to stay operating. Probably the thick radiation in the atmosphere when all stars end broke out.”

“So what are you going to do?” Tay questioned,

“The next best thing: I’ve been searching for survivors since I took out the droids. I came into contact via the Force with several Jedi and other soldiers about eleven miles east from this location.”

“East?!” Nagol repeated with disappointment, “the airline is seven miles west! That’s the opposite direction to where we were headed!”

“You mean to tell me you two were going to an airline…assuming to get into a shuttle and escape Bondo III?”

“Why yes…is that not the right thing to do?” Tay asked confused on many different levels,

“Um…well in case you didn’t know, all airlines were pretty much either emptied or overwhelmed with Screechers. You aren’t getting off this planet.”

“You don’t know that,” Nagol barked, “There could be a shuttle waiting for us right now, and you wouldn’t know it!”

“And there could be two Screechers coming up behind you and you wouldn’t know it.”
